Children’s Books, Activities, and Toys We Love

Note: These are my own opinions. Unless otherwise specified, I do not receive any compensation for these recommendations.

Melissa and Doug – high-quality crafts, activities, and toys that stimulate creativity and learning

BOB Books – Munchkin is so proud that she can read these books herself! Mama and Daddy think they are excellently designed to help beginning readers gradually make progress, while fostering self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment.

Sandra Boynton’s board books – Beloved by all members of our family, these are entertaining for kids and adults. And I just might be able to recite several from memory.

DVD’s: We allow only 30-60 minutes of “screen time” up to 5 days each week, and prefer educational entertainment as much as possible.

Little Pim – This is a fun, engaging way to introduce kids age 0-6 to a foreign language. Our kids love watching the DVD’s, playing with the apps, and squealing “PIM!” every time they see a panda picture or toy. Disclosure: this link is part of a referral program. Preschool Prep DVD’s – Excellent edutainment our kids request over and over. We are fairly certain the Meet the Phonics and Sight Words series contributed to Munchkin beginning to read at the age of 3 years and 9 months.
