Dear Peanut and Munchkin,
Last night, Daddy and I took you trick-or-treating for the first time. We’ve done Trunk-or-Treats before, but we decided you were old enough now to go house-to-house.
Except it was raining cats and dogs. All day.
So we took you to the mall, but that was a bust, too. They’d started at 5 p.m. and all the stores were out of treats by the time we arrived. We left a little before 8. The rain had finally stopped, and even though it was already your bed time, we felt badly that we’d gotten you all excited about trick-or-treating with nothing to show for it.
A friend said we could stop by their house on the way home, then we went to a few more houses in their neighborhood. We went to two more houses near our own, then called it a night around 8:30. We only went to 6 or 7 houses in all, but it seemed a good introduction to the Halloween tradition.
I’m thankful we were able to go house-to-house as a family after all, and that you both had fun. I’m also thankful there’s a nearby dentist who will “buy back” your candy haul!
