Yesterday morning when you and Daddy dropped Munchkin off at school, we found out one of her classmates had been diagnosed with the H1N1 (swine flu) virus. The school had done what it could to prevent other kids from getting sick by wiping everything down with a bleach water solution, among other steps. But our whole family got flu shots yesterday to help lower our risk. It feels like Munchkin has brought home every other illness her classmates have had in the last 3 months, so Daddy and I felt vaccinations were wise in light of the probable exposure.
You took yours like a champ. Daddy held you, and you let out one plaintive cry right after the shot. Then he passed you to me and you quickly settled down as if nothing had happened. The only difference we noticed all day was that you didn’t nap in the afternoon, which was definitely out of character and may have been a side effect of the shot.
In the evening, I set you on top of the running dryer while I started a load of laundry. It was the first time I’d done that; your facial expressions alternately expressed enjoyment and uncertainty about the weird sensation. Despite the shot and no nap, you seemed to have a pretty good day. You’re such a little trooper!
