My dear, sweet kids,
Today I am thankful for inspirational stories like Nora’s. With heavy hearts, her parents received the news that she would be born with Trisomy 18, a chromosomal abnormality that they were told was “incompatible with life.” Abortion was suggested. Yet her parents remained faithful and put their trust in the Lord. Her mother made a promise to Nora: “I will carry you.”
And the Lord gave them a miracle! They were prepared for Nora to be stillborn. But she breathed in and cried out! They were prepared for Nora to leave them in the first days after her birth. But she lived! They were prepared for Nora to leave them in the first weeks or months, but still she lived! And she lives even now, bringing joy to her family 7 months later!
Thanks to her mother’s choice to share their story, many people all over the world have been inspired by Nora and by her parents’ journey in faith. In their submission, God has made this family a jar of clay, to show his power and mercy. I pray He will grant Nora many years of life, but I know that whatever His plans may be, she and her family will accept them with grace. And they will have the support of all of Nora’s admirers.
